Video, it seems, hasn’t killed the radio star. Earlier this week, invite and audio-only Clubhouse earned an undisclosed amount in series C funding. The one-year-old social media platform is earning traction. It’s attracting celebrities, a bit of controversy, and billions of dollars in estimated value.
Led by Andrew Chen at Andreessen Horowitz, the round values the start-up at around $4 billion dollars. Additional investors include Elad Gil, DST Global, and Tiger Global Management. Diverting wildly from other platforms, Clubhouse users can host online radio shows, tune-in to live interviews, and ask to join discussions.
