New Jersey American Water to Acquire Egg Harbor City Water and Sewer System

On Mon. March 29, New Jersey American Water announced that it will acquire the water and wastewater assets of Egg Harbor City. The water company has signed an agreement to acquire the assets for $21.8 million. The water and wastewater systems, which are municipally owned, serve 1,500 customer connections each and 3,000 combined.

Egg Harbor City is selling them through the states’ Water Infrastructure Protection Act (WIPA) process. The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection approved of Egg Harbor City’s request to pursue the deal in April 2019. Following this certification, Egg Harbor began a nearly two-year long procurement process.
