London and Brussels announced a completed Brexit trade deal on Dec. 24, according to British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
“The deal is done,” Johnson added on Twitter. The European Union and the United Kingdom finally agreed on a post-Brexit trade deal after months of negotiations. The U.K. officially left the European single market and customs union on Jan. 1.
This deal took place four-and-a-half years after the referendum in support of the country leaving the EU. Additionally, it set the terms of the U.K.’s future cooperation with the EU. Along with goods and services, the deal also covers transport, energy, fisheries, data protection and social security.
