Private equity firm, Shamrock Holdings has recently decided to invest in the agency, Excel Sports Management.
This is the first major outside investment for Excel Sports Management. The firm plans to use the investment to enhance its existing agency business and strategically expand new areas of the sports and media fields. It will become a part of Excel’s Growth Fund.
“We decided it was finally time to look outside and bring a strategic investor into the fold,” says Jeff Schwartz, who launched Excel in 2002 and was joined by his partners—and their client rosters—in 2011. “We want to bolster current lines of business, but we also saw other lines of opportunity in the marketplace where we could make a dent.”
