Fed Extends Four Lending Programs to Sustain the Economy –

The Federal Reserve extended the deadlines for four lending facilities that were set to expire at the end of the year. The programs support the short-term funding of the market as the economy awaits a possible second stimulus package. 

Lending programs Commercial Paper Funding Facility (CPFF), Money Market Mutual Fund Liquidity Facility, Primary Dealer Credit Facility and Paycheck Protection Program Liquidity Facility are available economy until March 31, 2021.

The Fed approved the extension after the U.S. Treasury let lending programs to SME businesses and local governments expire. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin also requested the Fed return the unused $455 billion. Mnuchin plans on transferring the surpluses to the Treasury’s General Fund.
