Stripe, the online technology company, has recently acquired Nigerian company Paystack. Stripe, as a company helps businesses to pay and manage finances. Their intention is to extend their scope to Africa as well.
“Paystack has done what many companies could not achieve in decades [in five years],” says Matt Henderson, Stripe’s business lead. “Their tech-first approach, values, and ambition greatly align with our own.
Paystack will be operating independently, however, despite the acquisition. They will continue to grow their business, which already operates with over 60,000 business in Nigeria and Ghana. Paystack hopes to reach the rest of the continent with this new business venture.
