Spiceology Earns $4.7M in Series A Funding

Spiceology recently announced the closing of $4.7M in series A funding. The spice company boasts over 250 salts, spices, and chilies as well as fruit and vegetable powders. Washington-based Cowles Company was a participating investor, with Ty Bennett having led the funding round.

Bennet was unavailable for comment. However, Steve Rector, CFO of Cowles Company, credited the firm’s interest to Spiceology’s founders. According to Rector, Pete Taylor and Heather Scholten approached the creation of their company with both immense passion and notable experience. “With Pete’s background as a chef,” Rector told The Buttonwood Tree, “he experienced firsthand the poor product quality of the spices in the market at that time.”
