This week, mass media holding company Gannett Co., Inc. has announced the appointment of former Spotify and Freshly Inc. employee, Mayur Gupta. Gupta will be the new Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer (CMO) for the company.
Gupta will be responsible for driving the vision and strategy of the company. He will also lead the marketing and growth functions, connecting data, technology, and storytelling to deliver content through digital channels and emerging technologies to Gannett’s audience.
Gupta’s appointment comes as the company moves more towards a subscription-led content business. According to Gannett, the company grew subscriptions by 7.4% from the first quarter to the second quarter of this year.
