On July 29, U.S. Bank officially launched a voice assistant called Smart Assistant. The assistant is built into the bank’s mobile app and lets customers bank by speaking or texting requests.
U.S. Bank unveiled the Smart Assistant during a climate when many banks have dropped voice assistants, or chatbots due to lack of consumer interest.
According to Ankit Bhatt, U.S. Bank’s chief digital officer for consumer lines, usage on the mobile app has been strong, especially throughout the pandemic. The app has become the primary avenue of customer interaction with the bank, he said.
