Just Eat Takeaway N.V., the Amsterdam-based online food-delivery giant, acquired GrubHub Inc. for $7.3 billion in an all-stock transaction, reportedly forming the world’s largest food-services company in the world outside of China.
The businesses will form an entity with a new name, “Combined Group,” according to a joint press release.
The new entity will offer “strong brands connecting restaurant partners with their customers in 25 countries,” the companies said in their press release.
As a result of the deal, the Dutch food delivery giant led by entrepreneur Jitse Groen adds the U.S. market to its sphere of influence which already includes the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Mexico, and Canada.
